Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Chlorzoxazone is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant that depresses polysynaptic reflex arcs in the spinal cord. It reduces excessive skeletal‑muscle tone without directly affecting neuromuscular junction transmission. Its mechanism involves enhancement of inhibitory interneuron activity and modulation of GABAergic signalling.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in muscle‑spasm modelling, CNS-depressant mechanism studies, spinal‑reflex research, comparative muscle‑relaxant pharmacology and drug‑interaction metabolism studies (notably CYP2E1).

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include hepatotoxicity (idiosyncratic), sedation, dizziness, GI discomfort and impaired psychomotor coordination. Handle as a CNS depressant with hepatotoxic potential.
