Product Description
Mechanism of Action
Chlorogenic acid is a polyphenolic ester of caffeic acid and quinic acid. It modulates cellular redox pathways, inhibits glucose‑6‑ phosphatase, reduces intestinal glucose absorption and exerts antioxidant effects through ROS scavenging and upregulation of endogenous antioxidant enzymes (e.g., SOD, catalase). It also influences lipid metabolism and anti‑inflammatory pathways via NF‑κB suppression.
Benefits and Advantages
Used in antioxidant research, metabolic‑disease modelling, polyphenol‑bioavailability studies, glucose‑regulation investigations, nutraceutical formulation and natural‑compound SAR profiling.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include GI discomfort, mild headache, increased homocysteine levels (high doses), and allergic sensitivity to polyphenols. Handle as a bioactive nutraceutical compound.
