Mechanism of Action
Cephradine is a firstgeneration cephalosporin structurally and mechanistically similar to cephalexin. It binds PBPs and inhibits bacterial cellwall peptidoglycan crosslinking, resulting in bactericidal lysis. Its chemical stability provides strong oral and parenteral bioavailability.

Used in grampositive bacteriology modelling, peptidoglycansynthesis studies, lactam SAR comparisons, MIC profiling, and cellwall structurefunction research.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include allergic reactions, diarrhoea, hepatic enzyme elevation and rare haematologic disturbances. Standard lactam safety protocols apply.
