Product Description
Mechanism of action
Cefazidime is a third-generation cephalosporin with strong activity against gram-negative bacilli, notably *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*. It inhibits PBPs, blocking peptidoglycan crosslinking and compromising bacterial cell-wall integrity. Its side chain offers enhanced stability to many -lactamases, prolonging activity in resistant environments.
Benefits and advantages
Widely used in hospital-pathogen research, antipseudomonal susceptibility testing, -lactamase-resistance modelling, ICU infection studies, and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) simulations. A key reference drug for evaluating new anti-pseudomonal agents and carbapenem-sparing strategies.
Side effects and risks
Risks include hypersensitivity, selection of resistant organisms, neurotoxicity at high doses (especially with renal impairment), and GI upset. Handle with antimicrobial compound precautions.
Only GMP materials will be supplied, logistics all according to GDP.
