Mechanism of Action
Cefadroxil is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with strong gram-positive activity. It inhibits PBPs, preventing cell-wall crosslinking and peptidoglycan formation. Cefadroxil exhibits extended half-life due to enhanced renal tubular reabsorption, allowing less frequent dosing.

Used in gram-positive susceptibility testing, -lactam structureactivity research, PBP-binding assays, oral cephalosporin pharmacokinetic modelling and staphylococcal cell-wall studies.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include hypersensitivity, diarrhoea, dysbiosis, eosinophilia, and rare hepatic effects. Handle as a -lactam antibiotic.
