Mechanism of action

Butoform is an antidiarrheal and antimicrobial agent believed to exert its effects through mild antiseptic activity and inhibition of intestinal secretions. It interacts with bacterial metabolic pathways and modulates GI motility via weak anticholinergic action.

Used in gastrointestinal research, diarrheal-pathway modelling, antimicrobial SAR investigations, gut-microbiome interaction studies and intestinal-secretion assays.

Side effects and risks
