Mechanism of action
Butofilolol is a non-selective -adrenergic receptor antagonist exhibiting partial agonist (ISA) properties. It binds to and receptors, decreasing heart rate, myocardial oxygen demand and contractility while exerting mild intrinsic stimulation in resting states, reducing bradycardia risk compared to pure antagonists.

Used in cardiovascular-receptor studies, -receptor selectivity modelling, adrenergic signalling research, arrhythmia models and comparisons of ISA vs non-ISA beta-blockers in functional assays.
Side effects and risks
Risks include bronchoconstriction, fatigue, dizziness, bradycardia, hypotension and masking of hypoglycaemia. Handle using beta-blocker safety protocols.
