Mechanism of action
Bromdiphenhydramine is a brominated analogue of diphenhydramine with strong Hantihistaminic activity. It competitively blocks H receptors, reducing histaminedriven allergic responses. It easily crosses the bloodbrain barrier, producing significant sedative and anticholinergic effects.

Used in histaminereceptor research, CNSsedative comparison studies, anticholinergicburden modelling, allergy pharmacology and membranepermeability studies of lipophilic antihistamines.
Side effects and risks
Risks include sedation, anticholinergic toxicity, cognitive impairment, tachycardia, urinary retention and paradoxical excitability in some subjects. Handle with CNSactive antihistamine precautions.
