Mechanism of action
Bezafibrate is a panPPAR agonist activating PPAR, PPAR and PPAR to varying degrees. It modulates lipid metabolism by increasing fattyacid oxidation, reducing triglycerides, improving insulin sensitivity and lowering VLDL production. It also influences inflammatory signalling and glucose homeostasis.
Benefits and advantages
Important in metabolicdisease research, dyslipidaemia modelling, PPARtarget discovery, mitochondrial fattyacid oxidation studies, insulinresistance models and cardiometabolic investigations.
Side effects and risks
Risks include hepatic enzyme elevations, GI symptoms, gallstone formation and rare myopathy. Handle with metabolicmodulator precautions.
