Product Description
Mechanism of action
Bambuterol is a prodrug of the longacting agonist terbutaline. After hepatic metabolism, terbutaline stimulates adrenergic receptors in bronchial smooth muscle, activating adenylate cyclase and increasing intracellular cAMP, resulting in bronchodilation and reduced airway resistance. Bambuterol itself also inhibits certain plasma cholinesterases.

Side effects and risks
Risks include tremor, tachycardia, hypokalaemia and insomnia. Due to bronchodilator potency, it must be handled using adrenergicactive safety protocols.
