Mechanism of action
Micronised betamethasone is the pure glucocorticoid base with significantly increased dissolution rate due to particle size reduction. It acts via glucocorticoid receptor agonism, modulating transcription of inflammatory and immune-response genes, reducing cytokine production and stabilising lysosomal membranes.

Used in comparative glucocorticoid studies, particlesize bioavailability modelling, topicaldelivery research, pharmacodynamic profiling and receptorbinding experiments. Micronisation allows enhanced performance in lowdose formulations.
Side effects and risks
