Product Description
Mechanism of Action
Dicloxacillin benzathine is a long‑acting salt form of the isoxazolyl penicillin dicloxacillin. It inhibits bacterial cell‑wall synthesis by binding to penicillin‑binding proteins (PBPs), blocking the transpeptidation of peptidoglycan strands. The benzathine moiety prolongs absorption and provides sustained β‑lactam exposure. Isoxazolyl penicillins are resistant to staphylococcal β‑lactamases.

Used in β‑lactam resistance‑mechanism studies, PBP‑binding assays, staphylococcal infection models, and extended‑release penicillin formulation research.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include hypersensitivity reactions, GI upset, hepatic enzyme elevations and alteration of gut microbiota. Handle with β‑lactam antibiotic precautions.
