Mechanism of Action
Cyclacillin is an aminopenicillin antibiotic that inhibits cellwall synthesis through binding to penicillinbinding proteins (PBPs). Its cyclohexyl side chain improves resistance to lactamase degradation and enhances oral stability compared with ampicillin.

Used in lactam SAR studies, grampositive susceptibility assays, oralbioavailability modelling, and PBPbinding mechanism investigations.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include hypersensitivity reactions, GI upset, hepaticenzyme elevation and alteration of gut flora. Handle with lactam antibiotic precautions.
