Mechanism of Action
Ciprofloxacin lactate is a salt form providing improved solubility and stability for parenteral or specialized formulations. Mechanistically identical to ciprofloxacin: inhibition of bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, leading to disruption of DNA replication and bactericidal activity.

Side Effects and Risks
Risks mirror ciprofloxacin: tendon toxicity, neurologic effects, photosensitivity, GI upset and cardiac conduction disturbances. Handle with antibacterial-agent PPE.
