Product Description
Mechanism of action
Cefodizime is a thirdgeneration cephalosporin with unique immunomodulatory properties in addition to classical lactam antibacterial action. It binds PBPs and inhibits bacterial cellwall crosslinking while demonstrating enhanced resistance to many lactamases. Its side chain contributes to improved stability and extended halflife. Some studies indicate immune-enhancing effects, including improved phagocytic activity and macrophage stimulation.
Benefits and advantages
Used in immunomodulation research, gramnegative susceptibility studies, lactam stability evaluations, PBP affinity profiling, respiratory-infection modelling, and macrophage-function studies. A reference molecule for immune-active cephalosporins.
Side effects and risks
Risks include hypersensitivity, diarrhoea, abnormal liver function tests, eosinophilia and rare haematologic abnormalities. Standard antimicrobial PPE applies.
Only GMP materials will be supplied, logistics all according to GDP.
