Mechanism of Action
Gadodiamide is a nonionic, linear gadoliniumbased contrast agent (GBCA) in which Gd is chelated by a diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acidbismethylamide ligand. It shortens T1 and T2 relaxation times of nearby water protons, enhancing MRI signal intensity in perfused tissues.

Used in MR angiography, perfusion imaging, bloodbrain barrier integrity studies and contrastagent pharmacokinetic research.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (in severe renal impairment), gadolinium retention, hypersensitivity reactions and mild nausea. Handle with GBCAclass precautions and renalfunction assessment.
