Product Description
Mechanism of Action
Gadodiamide is a nonionic, linear gadolinium‑based contrast agent (GBCA) in which Gd³⁺ is chelated by a diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid‑bismethylamide ligand. It shortens T1 and T2 relaxation times of nearby water protons, enhancing MRI signal intensity in perfused tissues.
Benefits and Advantages
Used in MR angiography, perfusion imaging, blood–brain barrier integrity studies and contrast‑agent pharmacokinetic research.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (in severe renal impairment), gadolinium retention, hypersensitivity reactions and mild nausea. Handle with GBCA‑class precautions and renal‑function assessment.
