Mechanism of Action
Everninomicin is an oligosaccharide antibiotic of the orthosomycin class that binds uniquely to the 50S ribosomal subunit at a site distinct from macrolides and aminoglycosides. By obstructing the peptidyltransferase center and disturbing 50S30S subunit interactions, it inhibits bacterial protein synthesis with strong activity against multidrugresistant grampositive organisms.
