Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Erythrosine (FD&C Red No. 3) is a xanthene dye with strong iodinated fluorescein‑like chromophore activity. It absorbs visible light and fluoresces intensely, making it suitable in biological staining and photophysical studies. It interacts with proteins and membranes via electrostatic and hydrophobic forces.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in fluorescence‑labelling studies, staining assays, photodynamic research, and dye–protein interaction modelling.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include mild irritation, thyroid‑related concerns with high exposure due to iodine content, and rare hypersensitivity reactions. Handle with dye‑compound precautions.
