Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Enprophylline is a xanthine derivative with bronchodilatory activity primarily through phosphodiesterase inhibition, elevating intracellular cAMP in airway smooth muscle. Unlike theophylline, it has minimal adenosine‑receptor antagonism.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in PDE‑inhibition assays, airway‑smooth muscle research, bronchodilator‑SAR studies, and asthma‑pathophysiology modelling.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include mild tachycardia, tremor, GI upset and CNS excitation at high doses. Handle with xanthine‑bronchodilator precautions.
