Mechanism of Action
Efonidipine is a dual L‑type and T‑type calcium-channel blocker that reduces vascular smooth‑muscle tone and modulates cardiac conduction. Inhibition of T‑type channels provides additional effects on nodal tissue and renal hemodynamics, making it a unique dihydropyridine derivative.

Side Effects and Risks
Risks include hypotension, flushing, ankle edema, tachycardia and gingival hyperplasia. Handle with calcium‑channel‑blocker precautions.
