Mechanism of Action
Diltiazem resinate is a resinbound, sustainedrelease form of the calciumchannel blocker diltiazem. It inhibits Ltype calcium channels in cardiac and smooth muscle cells, reducing contractility, slowing AVnode conduction, and lowering peripheral resistance. The resinate matrix provides controlled release and improved stability.

Side Effects and Risks
Risks include bradycardia, hypotension, edema, AV block and dizziness. Handle with cardioactivecalciumchannelblocker precautions.
