Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Diflunisal is a salicylic‑acid derivative NSAID that non‑competitively inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX‑1 and COX‑2). This decreases prostaglandin synthesis, reducing inflammation, pain and fever. Its difluorophenyl ring confers longer half‑life and reduced CNS penetration compared to aspirin.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in COX‑pathway modelling, analgesic SAR research, prostaglandin signalling analysis, and inflammatory‑cascade studies.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include GI irritation, renal stress, bleeding tendency, hypersensitivity, hepatotoxicity and fluid retention. Handle with NSAID‑class safety procedures.
