Mechanism of Action
Diatrizoate meglumine is a highosmolar, iodinated radiopaque contrast agent. It absorbs Xrays due to its iodine content, allowing visualization of vascular structures, hollow organs and soft tissues. Meglumine improves solubility and reduces toxicity.

Side Effects and Risks
Risks include nephrotoxicity (especially with dehydration), hypersensitivity reactions, nausea, electrolyte shifts and rare anaphylactoid events. Handle using iodinecontrast safety protocols.
