Mechanism of Action
Dantrolene sodium is a ryanodine receptor (RyR1) antagonist that inhibits calcium release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum in skeletal muscle. It reduces excitationcontraction coupling and is the only specific treatment for malignant hyperthermia. Its musclerelaxant action does not involve the neuromuscular junction.
