Mechanism of Action
Citalopram oxalate is the salt form commonly used in pharmaceutical formulations. Mechanism identical: potent inhibition of the serotonin transporter (SERT), increasing extracellular serotonin and enhancing serotonergic signalling. The oxalate form offers improved stability and solubility.
