Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Chymotrypsinogen is the inactive zymogen precursor of chymotrypsin. It is activated by trypsin via cleavage of specific peptide bonds, producing α‑chymotrypsin. Structural studies of the zymogen reveal conformational changes that enable catalytic‑triad activation upon processing.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in enzyme‑activation research, zymogen‑conversion studies, structural‑biology analysis, protease‑cascade modelling and protein‑folding research.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include sensitisation, respiratory irritation and enzymatic tissue interaction. Handle with standard protease‑zymogen precautions.
