Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Chlorthialidone hydrochloride is a highly soluble salt form of chlorthalidone with identical mechanisms: inhibition of the distal‑tubular Na⁺/Cl⁻ symporter, reduced plasma volume, long‑acting antihypertensive effect and improved calcium retention. The HCl form improves formulation stability and aqueous handling.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in salt‑solubility PK studies, antihypertensive research, chronic diuresis modelling, NCC-transporter pharmacology and metabolic‑side‑effect comparisons across thiazide derivatives.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include electrolyte depletion, insulin resistance, hyperuricemia, dizziness, muscle cramps and dehydration. Handle following diuretic‑class precautions.
