Mechanism of Action
Chloramine‑B (sodium p‑toluenesulfonchloramide) is an N‑chlorinated aromatic compound functioning as an oxidizing and chlorinating antiseptic. It releases active chlorine species in aqueous environments, oxidizing microbial proteins, disrupting cell membranes and inactivating pathogens.

Used in disinfectant‑mechanism research, oxidative‑stress modelling, analytical chemistry (as a chlorinating reagent), environmental microbiology studies and water‑sanitisation testing.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include skin and mucosal irritation, oxidative tissue damage at high exposure, environmental toxicity and respiratory irritation. Handle using oxidant‑handling PPE.
