Product Description

Mechanism of action

Carteolol is a non‑selective β‑adrenergic receptor antagonist with intrinsic sympathomimetic activity. It reduces intraocular pressure by decreasing aqueous‑humor production and enhancing outflow. In systemic tissues it decreases heart rate, contractility and renin secretion.

Benefits and advantages

Used in glaucoma research, β‑receptor pharmacology, aqueous‑humor dynamics studies, cardiovascular β‑blocker modelling and sympathomimetic‑activity investigations.

Side effects and risks

Risks include bradycardia, bronchoconstriction, hypotension, fatigue and ocular irritation. Handle with beta‑blocker safety precautions.
