Mechanism of action
Carbinoxamine maleate is a first-generation H₁-antihistamine with significant anticholinergic and sedative properties. It competitively antagonises histamine at H₁ receptors, reducing vasodilation, capillary permeability and sensory-nerve activation. Its central penetration leads to drowsiness and antiemetic effects.

Side effects and risks
