Product Description

Mechanism of action

Butenafine is a benzylamine antifungal that inhibits squalene epoxidase, blocking ergosterol biosynthesis and causing toxic accumulation of squalene within fungal cells. This disrupts membrane structure and function, leading to fungal cell death. It is active against dermatophytes, yeasts and moulds.

Benefits and advantages

Used in antifungal mechanism studies, ergosterol-pathway research, dermatophyte susceptibility testing, benzylamine SAR investigation and topical-formulation development.

Side effects and risks

Risks include skin irritation, erythema, itching and rare allergic reactions. Handle as an antifungal API with dermal-protection PPE.
