Product Description

Mechanism of action

Buparvaquone is a hydroxynaphthoquinone antiprotozoal agent structurally related to atovaquone. It inhibits the mitochondrial electron transport chain, targeting the cytochrome bc₁ complex in protozoal pathogens, leading to ATP depletion and cell death.

Benefits and advantages

Used in protozoal-infection research, mitochondrial-electron-transport studies, veterinary-pharmacology modelling, quinone-antiprotozoal SAR studies and drug-resistance analyses.

Side effects and risks

Risks include hepatotoxicity, GI discomfort, hypersensitivity and photosensitivity. Handle under antimicrobial and quinone-compound safety protocols.
