Product Description

Mechanism of action

Amylocaine hydrochloride is an ester‑class local anaesthetic that blocks voltage-gated sodium channels in neuronal membranes. This prevents initiation of action potentials and temporarily interrupts sensory transmission.

Benefits and advantages

Historically valuable in topical anaesthesia research and in modelling ester‑type anaesthetic metabolism and hydrolysis by plasma cholinesterases.

Side effects and risks

Potential CNS excitation, cardiovascular depression and hypersensitivity (common among ester anaesthetics). Protective handling is essential.
