ADIPHENINE HCL
Adiphenine hydrochloride is an anticholinergic agent that blocks muscarinic receptors, reducing smooth muscle spasms and secretions. It is used to relieve gastrointestinal and urinary tract spasmodic conditions. Benefits include effective muscle relaxation and symptomatic relief. Side effects may include dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, urinary retention, and tachycardia, especially in sensitive individuals or at higher doses.

Product Description
Mechanism of action
Adiphenine hydrochloride is an anticholinergic (antimuscarinic) agent that competitively blocks muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in smooth muscle and glandular tissue. This leads to relaxation of gastrointestinal and biliary smooth muscle and a reduction in secretions.
Benefits and advantages
Adiphenine has been used as an antispasmodic for the relief of gastrointestinal and biliary colic. Its muscarinic blockade can provide symptomatic improvement in functional or spastic disorders of the gut when appropriately formulated.
Side effects and risks
Anticholinergic adverse effects include dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, urinary retention and tachycardia. Central nervous system effects such as confusion or agitation may occur, particularly in elderly patients or at high doses. Overdose can result in severe anticholinergic syndrome. Industrial handling requires precautions to avoid accidental exposure.
