Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Ferumoxytol is an ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticle (USPIO) coated with polyglucose sorbitol carboxymethyl ether. It delivers bioavailable iron to macrophages and is also used as an MRI contrast agent due to strong T1/T2 relaxation effects.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in nanoparticle imaging, iron metabolism studies, macrophage trafficking research and contrast‑enhanced MRI.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include hypersensitivity, hypotension, iron overload and rare anaphylaxis.
