Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Ergocristine acetonate is an ergot alkaloid derivative that acts as a partial agonist/antagonist at multiple serotonin (5‑HT), dopamine (D₂) and adrenergic (α) receptors. It modulates vascular tone and central neurotransmission, and historically has been part of ergot‑based mixtures used in cerebrovascular and cognitive research.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in ergot‑alkaloid receptor‑binding studies, cerebrovascular‑tone modelling, 5‑HT/DA/α‑receptor pharmacology, and mixed‑agonist/antagonist SAR investigations.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include vasospasm, hypertension or hypotension, nausea, paresthesias and, with chronic high exposure, ergotism (ischemia, fibrosis). Handle with ergot‑alkaloid precautions.
