Mechanism of Action
Ergocristine acetonate is an ergot alkaloid derivative that acts as a partial agonist/antagonist at multiple serotonin (5HT), dopamine (D) and adrenergic () receptors. It modulates vascular tone and central neurotransmission, and historically has been part of ergotbased mixtures used in cerebrovascular and cognitive research.

Used in ergotalkaloid receptorbinding studies, cerebrovasculartone modelling, 5HT/DA/receptor pharmacology, and mixedagonist/antagonist SAR investigations.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include vasospasm, hypertension or hypotension, nausea, paresthesias and, with chronic high exposure, ergotism (ischemia, fibrosis). Handle with ergotalkaloid precautions.
