Mechanism of Action
Desipramine hydrochloride is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) that selectively inhibits norepinephrine reuptake by blocking the norepinephrine transporter (NET). It enhances synaptic NE levels, modulates adrenergic signalling and influences downstream receptor plasticity. It has minimal serotonergic effects compared to other TCAs.
