Mechanism of Action
Decitabine (5aza2’deoxycytidine) is a DNA methyltransferase (DNMT) inhibitor that incorporates into DNA during replication. It traps DNMT enzymes, leading to genomewide hypomethylation, reactivation of silenced tumoursuppressor genes, and induction of differentiation or apoptosis in malignant cells.

Side Effects and Risks
