Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Cyclopenthiazide is a thiazide diuretic that inhibits the Na⁺/Cl⁻ cotransporter (NCC) in the distal convoluted tubule, increasing excretion of sodium, chloride and water. It also reduces calcium excretion and lowers peripheral vascular resistance with chronic exposure.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in renal‑electrolyte transport studies, NCC‑inhibition assays, antihypertensive‑mechanism modelling, and fluid‑balance research.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include hypokalemia, hyponatremia, hyperuricemia, glucose intolerance and hypotension. Handle under diuretic‑class safety controls.
