Mechanism of Action
Cromolyn sodium is a mastcell stabilizer that prevents degranulation by blocking chloridechanneldependent calcium influx. This inhibits release of histamine, leukotrienes and other inflammatory mediators. It does not act as an antihistamine, but rather prevents upstream mediator release by stabilizing the mastcell membrane.

Side Effects and Risks
