Mechanism of Action
Cloxacillin benzathine is a long‑acting depot form of the β‑lactamase‑resistant penicillin cloxacillin. It binds penicillin‑binding proteins (PBPs), inhibiting peptidoglycan crosslinking and disrupting bacterial cell‑wall synthesis. The benzathine complex prolongs absorption and maintains sustained plasma levels.

Used in long‑acting β‑lactam formulation research, PBP‑binding studies, staphylococcal‑resistance modelling and extended‑release PK/PD profiling.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include hypersensitivity, GI upset, hepatic dysfunction, nephritis and injection‑site reactions. Handle with β‑lactam antibiotic precautions.
