Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Clinafloxacin is a potent fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, causing irreversible DNA damage. It exhibits strong activity against gram‑negative bacteria, gram‑positive cocci and anaerobes, including some drug‑resistant strains. Its unique C‑8 substituent enhances potency but is associated with phototoxicity.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in resistant‑pathogen modelling, anaerobic‑susceptibility studies, quinolone SAR research, DNA‑damage pathway studies and broad‑spectrum PK/PD modelling.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include severe phototoxicity, dysglycemia, CNS effects, QT prolongation and tendon toxicity. Handle with enhanced fluoroquinolone safety measures.
