Mechanism of Action
Citiolone (acetyl-mercaptopropionyl glycine) is a hepatoprotective compound that enhances glutathione synthesis and supports cellular detoxification. It acts as a cysteine donor, improves mitochondrial function, reduces oxidative stress and supports hepatocellular repair processes. It also modulates amino acid metabolism.

Used in hepatoprotection research, glutathione-pathway modelling, oxidative-stress studies, mitochondrial bioenergetics assays, toxicology research and antioxidant SAR investigations.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include GI upset, sulfur-odor excretion, hypersensitivity reactions and rare hepatic enzyme alterations. Handle with antioxidantthiol compound precautions.
