Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Cyproheptadine hydrochloride is a first-generation H₁-antihistamine with strong antiserotonergic (5-HT₂) activity. It reduces allergic responses via H₁ receptor blockade and suppresses serotonin-mediated pathways, leading to increased appetite, reduced migraine activity and decreased GI motility.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in H₁/5-HT₂ receptor pharmacology studies, appetite-regulation models, migraine-pathway research, allergy-modelling experiments and anticholinergic SAR studies.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include sedation, weight gain, anticholinergic effects (dry mouth, urinary retention), dizziness and paradoxical excitation. Handle as a CNS-active antihistamine.
