Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Cinitapride is a gastroprokinetic agent acting as a mixed 5‑HT₄ agonist, 5‑HT₂ antagonist and weak dopamine D₂ antagonist. It enhances acetylcholine release in the enteric nervous system, promoting gastric emptying and intestinal motility. It also reduces visceral hypersensitivity through serotonergic modulation.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in GI‑motility research, serotonin‑receptor pathway modelling, enteric‑neuronal signalling studies, dyspepsia research, and prokinetic SAR investigations.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include diarrhea, abdominal cramping, headache, mild hyperprolactinemia and rare extrapyramidal symptoms. Handle as an enteric‑neuroactive compound.
