Mechanism of Action
Cimetropium bromide is a quaternary ammonium antimuscarinic agent that blocks M muscarinic receptors on smooth muscle. This reduces gastric motility, intestinal spasms and secretions. Due to poor bloodbrain barrier penetration, it primarily acts peripherally without strong CNS effects.

Side Effects and Risks
Risks include dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, urinary retention and tachycardia. Handle using antimuscarinicagent precautions.
