Product Description
Mechanism of action
Cefpiramide is a third‑generation parenteral cephalosporin with broad gram-negative activity and a long elimination half‑life. It binds PBPs and inhibits bacterial cell-wall synthesis. Its prolonged action makes it useful in sustained exposure PK/PD modelling and severe infection studies.
Benefits and advantages
Used in PK/PD research, gram-negative susceptibility assays, β‑lactam resistance evaluation, nosocomial-infection modelling, and cephalosporin structural optimisation studies. Particularly valuable in studying time-dependent killing dynamics.
Side effects and risks
Risks include hypersensitivity, hepatic enzyme variations, GI disturbances and possible nephrotoxicity at high exposures. Handle with standard β‑lactam precautions.
