Product Description

Mechanism of action

Ceforanide is a second‑generation cephalosporin with enhanced stability against β‑lactamases and a prolonged plasma half‑life. It inhibits PBPs and blocks crosslinking of peptidoglycan strands, impairing structural integrity of bacterial cell walls. Its extended half‑life enables less frequent dosing in experimental models.

Benefits and advantages

Used in PK/PD modelling of long‑acting cephalosporins, gram‑positive pathogen studies, β‑lactamase‑resistance screening, bone/joint infection models, and cephalosporin SAR research.

Side effects and risks

Risks include hypersensitivity, GI upset, hepatic enzyme changes and occasional nephrotoxicity. Handle using β‑lactam safety protocols.
