Product Description
Mechanism of action
Cefoperazone is a broad-spectrum third‑generation cephalosporin with strong anti‑pseudomonal activity. It binds PBPs and disrupts cell‑wall peptidoglycan synthesis. Its high biliary excretion makes it particularly effective in biliary tract infections. When combined with sulbactam, its efficacy against resistant organisms increases markedly.

Used extensively in Pseudomonas research, β‑lactam PK/PD studies, biliary-excretion modelling, hospital-acquired infection research, anaerobic co-infection models, and β‑lactamase‑inhibitor synergy investigations.
Side effects and risks
Risks include hypersensitivity, biliary sludge formation, GI disturbances, elevated liver enzymes and vitamin K–related coagulation disorders. Handle with β‑lactam antibiotic precautions.
